March Update

Wow, since our last update in June 2011 we have doubled our fermentation capacity in the brewhouse, released our Stout and then in December a gorgeous Christmas Ale that was just perfect for the season. 

Our Stout is a strong tasting dark beer made using roasted malt.  It is a rich black Stout that has enjoyed an extended maturation allowing the bitterness to mellow and it is beautifully balanced by the malty flavours with deep strong coffee, malt aromas and a hint of chocolate and licorice.  At  6.5% alcohol it’s perfect for winter.

Jeff has just brewed the first batch of 2012 Stout and even at a little over one week in the fermenter it has all the signs of being a great drop.  It is due for release on 1^st May, 2012, so get in early.

Have you ever had mulled wine in Europe around Christmas?  Well we managed to get Christmas in a beer bottle!  Released on 1^st December it was beer’s answer to mulled wine, but cold and right for an Aussie Christmas.  Our Christmas Ale is brewed using the spices of Christmas wrapped up in a Chestnut Brown Ale.  Fermented at 20°C and hopped with Pride of Ringwood, Tettnang and Hersbrucker Hops it is a perfect compliment to the festive season. At 6.3% alcohol it was guaranteed to take the edge off Christmas!

We have only just sold out of the remaining cartons, but without a doubt it will be released again this year on 1^st December – but that’s ages away.

Our cellar door is getting busier all the time.  Our terrace area is extremely popular on weekend afternoons, there are not many better places to enjoy a beer and just taking in the sounds of the birds and gazing out across the vineyards, oh did I mention being harassed by the dog to throw ball!

For now Stout season is upon us, then look out for something new for Spring.  Not sure what it will be yet, but guaranteed that it will be something special.
